A hearing aid is an electronic aid device, worn most often behind the ear or in the ear allowing correcting hearing impairment. It consists of essentially a microphone, an earpiece and an amplifier, most often powered by a very small stack. There are many types of hearing aids. Thanks to the recent developments in digital technology and advanced electronic design, hearing aids modern models can be very small and very inconspicuous.

RIC AND CONTOUR EAR

RIC hearing aids are composed of a plastic case. The hearing aid fits behind the ear and is connected to a small earphone located inside a dome by a wireless. Inside the RIC are the electronic components and microphones which electronically transmit sound amplified via wire to a placed earpiece in the ear canal. The earphone can be featuring a plastic dome or even a custom shell made according to the shape from the ear.

Custom hearing aids are available in different shapes and sizes and can be manufactured such as in-ear devices that fill the contours of the outer ear or such intra-deep devices that are housed in the hollow of the ear. Voucher component of the program

If you are an Australian citizen or a permanent resident over the age of 21, then you are eligible for the voucher component of the program.

  • Pension concession card holders
  • Department of Veterans ‘ Affairs Gold Card holders
  • VA white card holders (certain conditions has to listen)
  • Dependent of a person belonging to one of the above categories
  • Member of Australian Defense Force1 Disability Employment Services (disability management services) in the program of the trust
  • Seniors Health Card does not provide eligibility for the program.

21 ~ 25 years old (inclusive)of the youth if the voucher program (listed above eligibility criteria to meet one case) or CSO program (details below)via the service you receive. Voucher services are provided by a network of auditory service providers across Australia.

Community service obligation (CSO) component of the program

You are eligible to get hearing services through the CSO component If you are an Australian citizen or a permanent resident and you are

  • Persons who have complex hearing or communication needs or belong to one of the above qualifying groups, living in a remote area
  • Aboriginal and / or Torres Strait Islanders 50 years old or older.
  • Community development program (earlier on the remote jobs and Communities program (RJCP) and the community development employment projects (CDEP) program)is involved.
  • Or someone who has been a CDEP program participant since June 30, 2013; has since stopped participating in the program and received hearing services from Hearing Australia before discontinuing participation.

Persons under 26 years of age

  • Or an Australian citizen.
  • You’re a permanent resident.
  • Young NDIS participants
